Now Available at Standard Market in Westmont are 5 varieties of microgreens! We dropped off our first batch last Saturday and will continue drop them off weekly!
Were starting off Standard Market with Broccoli, Radish, Basic Salad Mix, Beet, and Sunflower. We might try to mix it up as we go depending on what sells! When you walk into the store, the right wall is the lettuce wall. We have room at the bottom middle of that shelf.
Next Sunday November 27th, I am going to post up there between 12-2PM giving out samples of the greens. Come on by if you want to hear a passionate rant on local foods.

Really excited about these new varieties as I think they REALLY compliment the salads we make. I am LOVING having fresh lettuces again in our salads and sandwiches.
Personally – I love using the sweet crisp lettuce for my salads as they have smaller leaves making it easy to pick them out. Compliment that with some cooked mushrooms or sunflower microgreens for texture and some broccoli and cabbage and you have an amazing nutritious salad.
I also love the summer crisp lettuce for my sandwiches and wraps. I use the bigger leaves of the summer crisp to wrap my microgreens in my sandwich, keeping them all nicely compact. We also make βunwichesβ which are basically sandwiches with lettuce that replaces the bread to reduce our carb intake. Summer crispβs big leaves has allowed us to make these types of wraps again (microgreens are unfortunately too small!!).
Chestnut mushrooms add vibrant colors to a dish, and have a very unique flavor profile. I think the flavor that most resembles a chestnut mushroom is corn flakes. A weird comparison maybe but it really is the case!
Black Pearl mushrooms, you see those big stems? They make for great cuts, and can be cooked just like scallops. When we make salads, we are often utilizing these βmeatyβ mushrooms as our meat. Mushrooms are low carb, high protein, high antioxidants so they fill the role of meat pretty neatly.
